Greetings from Verucchio

Last weekend I uploaded this image (above) to my Facebook account and loads of people were asking me if it was real. Because it really looks like a postcard. You could easily put ‘Greetings from Verucchio‘ on it and it would sell pretty good, I guess. Well, I do have to admit that Instagram helped me a lot on this one, but I certainly shot the picture myself.

For those who wonder, I was in Verucchio, which is a tiny little place in the region of Emilia-Romagna, Italy. It’s located at 18 km from Rimini on a spur overlooking the valley of the Marecchia river. Imagine: Old walls, buildings marked by the centuries, cobblestone streets, a charming piazza and a magical castle on top.

Although Verucchio is not as well-known as its neighbor, San Marino (the oldest republic in the world) which is visible from many vantage points in the town, it has much of its own to offer. If you’re traveling in that area, please make sure to hit this small town.

Note: Please don’t expect any excitement, luxury or wi-fi! Just wind down, enjoy the nature and recharge your spirit.
